This is a short but great story. Faith is a widow and a midwife but after a baby dies and is threaten she leaves town. Things work out after meeting Hayes and reunited with her friend. A clean and great read.

I receive this book as a gift and I feel so grateful reading this book.It filled me so much information about Archetypes.I now have more knowledge about interpetation of spiritual and occult symbolism.I love this book. It covers the basics of archetypes and gives you great insight into who you are.The author writes straight-forward stuff with a chapter for each identified archetype. And each sample and explanation about archetypes enclosed pictures of famous movies as an example about archetypes.I am so glad that I have read this book.

There is nothing that intrigued me other than Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, And now this book has a break down every one of my query regarding the awesome sci-fi film. More than interesting, I know that his films have a deeper meaning, so when the author suggested that the book was about that specific movie, I agreed to read it. About the Author
Diana J Smith was born and raised in Oklahoma. Diana received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in painting at the University of Oklahoma. Her intense interest in masks led her into additional studies in anthropology. Diana has exhibited in numerous juried, group, and solo shows and has won many awards for her paintings, masks and mixed media figures. While Diana also enjoys pure abstraction, she is best known for her acrylic paintings of canines, enlivening her subjects with qualities of loyalty, humor, inquisitiveness, mystery and patience. Diana’s newest body of work is in ceramics. “Working in clay feels therapeutic. At first, of course, I sculpted dog heads, then added other animals and surrounded them with plants and flowers on a sculpted back board. Then it evolved….. I began to sculpt the heads and let them take on their own form, almost part dog, rabbit, camel, pig, even fish and they became their own species. I loved where it went, they felt noble like they were from a romantic ancient culture, so they needed robes. I believe the Celtic influence in their attire comes from my past. I had traveled to see County Clare, Ireland where my great-great-grandfather came from. There I spent hours photographing the wonderful old Celtic grave markers.” This new body of figurative sculptures is called “A Mythical Menagerie”. Then, a surprise to me, they each seemed to need their story told. So I began the “Wizards’ Journal - The Exalted Tome of Quests”. Vampires and Gargoyles and Demons OH MY

Janene Scott creates this world where all the things that go bump in the night are not only real, but citizens of the world. That's right Gentle Readers. Vampires and shifters, dryads and demons. Not to mention Demetria Stone, a Gargoyle with a badge as part of the Brute Squad (lovely nickname for the Mirror Folk Police Department).

Demetria is on the trail of some mysterious murders/disappearances involving humans and Mirrorfolk alike. What she doesn't know is just how far she will have to go to solve this case. When the perp decides it is time to eliminate the investigating officer, Ms. Stone is in a race for her life.

If you have any interest in a more traditional take on all those monsters (as opposed to sparkly vampires and love sick werewolves) then I recommend you pick this one up. I was surprised how quickly I finished this one as it was a very comfortable read despite its near 300 pages. I guess I was under some witch's spell and couldn't put it down.

As a fan of the Urban Fantasy Genre, Stone Cold Killer felt like coming home. With a great main character and fleshed out world that I can't wait to explore more of in upcoming books, it was a quick read because I couldn't put it down.

Great Gallopin' Gargoyles!

Sassy, sarcastic, and sweet, just how I like my heroines. Demetria's wit and spark come through even when she's in the worst situations, she's totally a girl you want to have a beer with and kick back with, and definitely want at your back in a fight. Janene's writer voice is strong and clear, her storylines delightful, the action is fast and consistent, and her heroine is believable despite being a mythical monster. This was a really fun read, and I was delighted to know there are more of them. Read on, you won't regret it.

About the Author
Gayvin Powers is a writer-in-residence at the Weymouth Center and teaches film and humanities at Sandhills Community College in North Carolina. So Much More Than a Fairy Tale

I thought my 10-year-old daughter would love this (which she did), but I was surprised to find I was as spellbound as she. Iona Fay is an ordinary girl who, with an unwielding fixation on her goal, summons an inner strength that was there all along. Those traits, determination and inner strength, are traits we would all wish for our children. Ultimately, this story was not only entertaining and magical but also a positive influence. I definitely recommend you read it with your child.

" A child brings magic of new and old"

I sat down to read Iona Fay: An Irish Fairy Tale and didn't get off the couch until I finished the book.( ignoring my housework in the process) The story caught my interest. The protagonist, Iona is 14 years young but has the strength and wisdom of someone much older. A very likable character, her personality shines through with humor. She learns a lot about life, love, and trust of self ("No one is going to save me but me.") through out her journey between the worlds.
As Iona's grandma says, "Cleaning clears the mind so magic can bind", I better get off the couch and get started!

recommended for teen pre-teen one magical adventure.

This was a good book. Ment for a pre-teen teenager but as an adult I too enjoyed it. Easy to follow and imagine. When I was finished reading I did look for a second so that is always a good sign. I can't say I was always cheering for Iona as she was not a character I could identify with easy. I hope the next book will help make that connection. Then again I am not a teenager worried about fashion. But, hey what little girl doesn't want their mom to be a fairy or better yet the queen of the fairies.

Agents of Babylon and the Countdown to the Messiah

Agents of Babylon continues Dr. Jeremiah’s popular series on heroes and villains of the Bible. This time Dr. Jeremiah brings to bear his considerable knowledge of Biblical history and Bible prophecy on the book of Daniel and its intriguing list of characters from the second temple era.

Each chapter in Agents of Babylon has two distinct parts. The first part is a short novel like story based upon the real events depicted in a specific part of the book of Daniel. The second part of the chapter in Agents of Babylon, the real meat and potatoes of the book, is non-fiction and really gets to the fascinating details of the book of Daniel. I especially like that at the end of each chapter Dr. Jeremiah summarized a few points or life lessons as takeaways for the reader to apply to his or her own life.

The book of Daniel has held a fascination for me over the years and I really appreciated seeing the book through Dr. Jeremiah’s eyes. Even though I don’t agree with all of his conclusions in the non-fiction part of the book, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading Dr. Jeremiah’s many wonderful insights into the book of Daniel, one of the most important prophetic books of the Bible.

In the spirit of a Berean there are a couple of areas in the book where it would be nice to have further clarification. In Chapter 10, Dr. Jeremiah talks about the prophecy of 70 Weeks. Dr. Jeremiah’s interpretation of this wonderful passage is based upon the work of the great Christian scholar Sir Robert Anderson in his influential book The Coming Prince.

Anderson’s view holds that Ezra and Nehemiah were contemporaries of the Persian king Longimanus. Anderson bases this upon the work of the Christian chronologist Rawlinson. On Page 71 of the Coming Prince Anderson quotes Rawlinson and the sum of his evidence leaves quite a bit to be desired. Rawlinson simple states “there is every reason to believe” that Ezra and Nehemiah were contemporaries of Longimanus without providing any additional proof. My concern is a prophecy as important to our eschatological beliefs as Daniel 9 deserves a better foundation than this.

What is not widely known is that the Bible tells us that Ezra’s father died in the 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar. This would make Ezra’s age, at its youngest, nearly a quarter of a century older than Moses in order to be a contemporary of the Persian king Longimanus. The same goes for the Priest’s and Levites of Nehemiah 10 and 12. The Bible’s own internal evidence shows us that most reasonably Nehemiah and Ezra were contemporaries of Darius ‘the Great’ Artaxerxes. It would be helpful to see how Dr. Jeremiah has dealt with these difficulties in his own exploration of the subject.

On a related note Dr. Jeremiah states there are four Persian decrees which scholar’s have claimed might qualify as the “commandment to restore and build” of Daniel 9:25. In Ezra 6 it tells of another decree which Dr. Jeremiah didn’t mention. This decree was given by YHWH the living God of the Bible. It is curious to note that the word “commandment” of Daniel 9:25 is the Hebrew word dabar. Dabar is used 3 other times in Daniel 9 and each other time if refers specifically to the word of YHWH. It would be interesting to get Dr. Jeremiah’s take on why the decree or “word” of YHWH given to Haggai and Zechariah and witnessed by Ezra 6 is not a consideration when looking at Daniel 9 and countdown to the Messiah.

In summary, my disagreements and questions notwithstanding, I think Agents of Babylon was a good read and I believe anyone interested in the subject of the Bible’s prophetic word would be well served by reading it. I would also encourage the reader to then open their own Bibles and “see if these things be so”. Maranatha!

Another inspiring, truthful, hopeful look at End Times

Up until this book, I never completely understood the importance and relevance of Daniel to prophecy nor how well this Old Testament book relates to what Jesus said in Matthew and what John wrote about in Revelation in the New Testament. Dr. Jeremiah clearly reveals everything God intended for us to know about what is coming after the Rapture and what His chosen people are going to experience during that time. It is a book that will arouse all of the feelings people should experience when they learn of God's complete plan for and total control of His creation - fear yet reassurance, mystery and intrigue yet with ease of understanding, apprehension but followed by hope, sadness then joy, and proof without any doubt about the accuracy and dependability of divine scripture and God's omniscience. It is so encouraging while urging us to be diligent about doing the work He has planned for us while we still have the time. If there is anyone who feels that he doesn't have the ability to understand biblical prophecy, whether Old Testament or New, then this book will inspire you to dig deeper, to study those things God has put out there for us to know and understand, to greatly anticipate what He has in store for us, and to seriously long for His return.

This is a most fascinating book and an easy read. Although I have read the entire Bible, I learned so much about the book of Daniel that I did not realize from my reading it years ago. The first part of each chapter is written almost like fiction about what is in the particular chapter of Daniel and his interactions with Nebuchaduezzar and others, which makes it easier to understand. Then a section of the chapter covers the appropriate verses in the Bible and another portion relates to today. For example; Chapter 8 is prophecy about Alexander the Great, which I did not remember realizing that Daniel’s prophecy described him, but it does very well. Most of the prophecies in Daniel have come true and can be seen clearly in history. The final “end times prophecies” haven’t come about yet, but may be starting. Well worth reading for anyone.

CAN humans successfully transplant elsewhere?

This sequel to "Hurricane Moon" is just as satisfying in its storytelling and takes place a couple of decades after landfall. Although perhaps a thousand colonists have been brought out of stasis, most are still stored on the ship because of how surprisingly difficult humans have found the beautiful planet Green to be adaptable to their biology. Most local vegetation is inedible by humans, and there is almost no biological life, with the only large lifeforms being a semi-intelligent seal-like species. Small animal species put into statis have not survived being revived; a few individual larger animals have been successfully revived, but with food so scarce, most have been left in stasis for the time being. This verdant planet, seemingly a paradise, seems instead almost sterile, having no birds or land animals and few insects.

The focus here, as in the previous book, is on the group of scientists trying to find ways to produce food, make power, and correct the damage done by extended stasis to human DNA, which has resulted in illness, death, and difficulty producing offspring. Without solutions, the human colony won't survive. In the midst of this, a small spacecraft arrives in orbit, bringing a new challenge and threat.

This series is compulsively readable. The characters are interesting, and certainly not perfect. The ongoing effort to understand the planet yields many surprises, keeping the tension (and the reader's attention) raised on several levels. In fact, the planet itself is a major character. I think this is going to be one of those series I'll think about over the years because of the very thoughtful questions it raises about colonization and the chances of humans successfully surviving away from their native habitat.

Hopeful, Visionary - Elegant Prose- plus, just a fun read!

Hypnotic Storytelling! – Latner has spun a compelling tale around vivid characters and juicy plot twists. World-building and future history with the framework of its own mythology and such a sense of wonder conveyed throughout! Her hard science was spot-on in Hurricane Moon. I’m a PhD in physics and appreciate an author I never have to read with an “eye roll”. This novel is full of action and suspense, is humane, and most hopeful. More than these elements, Latner has a visionary streak in her art. If you are looking for a fun read that is also a good book for getting through a metaphorical “bad night" this one’s for you.
It can be read on several levels. A terrific story – very appropriate for teens by the way, or if you are interested in something more she invites you take a look at spirituality on a personal level, and in a community. She creates a universe where her humans are deprived of just about everything, including the integrity of their DNA – the very ability to continue life. How she evolves their story from that bleak start made for a fun read and my heart feel light!

Excellent sequel steps up the action!

I stumbled across the Aeon's Legacy series by serendipity, after meeting the author at a soaring seminar (it turns out she is a glider pilot in her spare time). I enjoyed the first book of the series, Hurricane Moon, and especially appreciated the final 2/3 of the story, where the hard science slips into a supporting role, and exciting plot twists and character development step into the foreground.

The great news for me is that Downfall Tide picked up right where Hurricane Moon left off, and the action continued to build throughout the story. The second novel of the series includes more surprises than the first one did, and I would go so far as to call it "Action/Adventure" - which just happens to take place in a setting that is far away in both time and space from the Earth that we know.

Looking forward to the next sequel!

HERCULES, the magical dog and Santa’s favorite pet, is a legend in the North Pole for selecting a child on the “naughty list” and taking that child on a magical journey for a chance to make the “nice list” as we witnessed in the Animal Planet holiday classic “Hercules Saves Christmas.”

During the off-season SANTA sends Hercules into a designated place to live with a lonely child and to bring joy, and often times, hysterical mayhem to that child’s world. This year Hercules is living incognito in San Francisco with an affable ten year old boy named Danny Dudley. Hercules, using his power of invisibility, sneaks off for daily missions to help the local police capture a bevy of comical criminals. Things are going rather swimmingly until the evil RONDO and his mischievous brother SUNBURN decide to turn up the heat for Hercules by recruiting a team of super-powered evil villains from, to quote Rondo, “the darkened bowels of the evil universe.” Rondo has been trying to get a hold of Hercules’ magical collar for decades and is sick and tired of being thwarted by the clever Hercules at every turn.

When Santa catches the chilly wind of Rondo’s evil intentions, he dispatches his two comical main elves ELF MICKEY and his dimwitted but lovable cousin, ELF JOSEPH, to San Francisco to warn Hercules and use their magical powers to stop Rondo in his collar-stealing tracks! Elf Mickey and Elf Joseph promptly set up the L.P.S.B.C (Little People Solving Big Crimes) Detective Agency in hopes of locating Rondo’s would be evil doers. The first call comes from a little elderly man named MARIO. He claims there is a twelve foot long green spider web in his back yard! Elf Mickey and Elf Joseph summon Hercules by appearing inside his water bowl then quickly hop inside the “Rudolph II”.

Upon examining the giant green spider web, WEBENZANIA appears in a cloud of green smoke. She has piercing green eyes and matching green hair spiked in a web-like pattern and greenish skin color. She wastes no time shooting constricting webs around Hercules, Elf Mickey and Elf Joseph. She warns them that the webs will tighten with each hour until they can breathe no more! She leaves them clues leading them to MAYOR WINKLE’S office where they find him bound in a constricting web while seated in his leather high back chair. In order to rescue the affable Mayor they must get past a giant spider with an appetite for magical dogs! As it appears that Hercules is about to be spider bait we hear our announcer say “Yikes! Could this be the end for Santa’s favorite pet Hercules?! Stay tuned for our next episode of “Hercules Incorporated!” But until then… Jingle Away!

Awesome book for kids (but adults will like it too!)

First of all, the graphics in this book are surprisingly well done and detailed. The story is funny, with a combination of corny, slap-stick humor and funny retorts that both kids, and "big" kids will like. It's a fun read that kids will enjoy more than once. Hopefully, this is the start of a series because Hercules certainly has the potential for more crazy adventures!
