There are many, many books about meditation on the market - I've got quite a few of them myself already - so why would I want another? Well, because Pagan Portals - Meditationis actually a bit different.Most of the books on meditation I've seen are aimed at the general mind, body, spirit market. This one is aimed specifically at pagans and witches. It is written by experienced witch Rachel Patterson, whose previous books include the excellent Grimoire of a Kitchen Witch and A Kitchen Witch's World of Magical Food.All of her books are well written and very practical. In Pagan Portals - Meditation she offers an overview of all the various types of meditation, including the currently extremely popular mindfulness and other widely varying forms including guided pathworkings, breathing meditation, Transcendental MeditationTM and Zen meditation.As well as explaining the basics of how to get started, Pagan Portals - Meditation goes into more advanced magical techniques, such as hedge riding, shape shifting and astral travel - or out of body experiences. For me, the chapter on how to use meditation to achieve an out-of-body experience was the most useful. To be completely honest, in the past I've only ever had out-of-body experiences when I've been very ill - and that's not something I'd recommend to anyone. Rachel Patterson offers a whole range of much safer techniques to get your consciousness outside your physical body and off travelling in the astral realms.Pagan Portals - Meditation would make a great addition to any witch's bookshelf. A very helpful and concise guide

Rachel Patterson has done it again with a concise and meaningful guide that combines meditation "best practices" with her own background and experiences. Many books on meditation seem to try and make the practice look a lot easier than it actually is. Patterson presents the information clearly while also listing key points that could lead the way towards success with this work. Meditation is so important to any practice and I'm glad that this book is out now.

I wish I had a copy of this two years ago. The authors were very open and honest in their sharing. You should buy a copy for everyone you know who has struggled to start a family - they will definitely feel that they are not alone!

A powerful compilation of raw testimonials which proves that you're Not Alone!!!

Are you tired of internalizing the longing and loss—the pain and sorrow? Have you ever wondered if all those feelings and struggles are actually normal? Does it seem as if you can control nothing and God has resigned Himself to complete indifference? Do the clipped, unemotional clichés often received in response turn your stomach and make your blood boil? Do you wish someone somewhere understood a fraction of what is your reality? Then you will find this book to be a companion like no other!!! Not Alone is a powerful compilation of raw testimonials that doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of infertility and miscarriage but, instead, draws from numerous personal accounts, bringing hope from the ashes of what might have been. Oh, how I wish this book had been available during my struggle, especially at the point when I reached my lowest. But even having read it now, I know this book has helped me further along in the continued healing process. Definitely a book I will be recommending to others.

This book is a beautiful collection of individual stories that share the common thread of questioning, frustration, and grief. It's a book that allows you to realize there is a community who has suffered the same thing, and their stories allow you to enter in their suffering as well as their comfort and hope. I appreciate this book for its courage to honor children that have never been born and to honestly share the pain that accompanies the loss of deep desires.

What a terrific short story

What a terrific short story! It was only about 4 pages long on my smartphone but that is plenty of time to develop the characters - enough so that the reader begins to connect with and care about the old god. To want a longer story would be selfish and would cause this brief, fantastic tale to lose its poignancy. It's definitely a worthwhile read!

Excellent Recipes!

This is an excellent collection of recipes for things like spell powders and salts. It's got a wide range of what sort of spell the recipes are for, and also include some that have more general uses. I will certainly be trying out some of these in the near future. I highly recommend snagging this book if you need straight forward recipes for home, kitchen, and hearth.

This is a great book for witches, especially those that work with herbs. Most of my spells are herb mixes and powders and this is an incredible resource with tons of useful powder and salt recipes for just about any purpose. Make sure you read the safety information in the introduction. I really appreciate the additional resources for reliable herb suppliers as well.

This was an easy/smooth read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. If you need to find ways to bring happiness back in your life, I suggest you grab a copy of this book and read it. It was hard to put it down after I started it. This book will keep your attention and you can hear Win preaching during some sections of the book. Do the leg work while reading this book by looking up the referenced scripture readings in the book and under the discussion. This would make another excellent small group reading. I have read all of Win's books and I can say they are all great. Can't wait until he writes his next one. Kudos Win for another great book.

A very concise,easy to read book on finding the true meaning of happiness. I loved the way he was able to weave stories from the Bible into it. Should be a must read for everyone. Very insightful.

This is a great read with a mix of humor, truth and history. It brought examples from the Bible, current events and Green's own wit in to create a blend of impressive material. I ended up buying a few copies for friends and family as Christmas gifts. We all enjoyed it-would definitely recommend.

This book has helped me to really and truly understand that yes, “Jesus only speaks the truth...” If we truly believe this, how much more meaningful are all of Jesus’ teachings and all the words He speaks in the Gospels! It is an invaluable insight that can have a tremendous impact on an individual’s spiritual life as he or she considers the Truth of Jesus’ words and promises to us.

The author includes a well-researched historical chapter regarding facts of early Christianity which I really enjoyed. He then proceeds to discuss various topics including trust, faith, loving God and one another, prayer, obedience, sacraments, God’s mercy, etc. The book is full of bible verses and readings relating to the various topics that allow us to reflect again on the power of Jesus’ words. The author candidly and openly interweaves his own personal story, life experiences, and conversion experiences throughout the book which I think makes it very personal and can help us identify our own life experiences which relate to the various topics.

I highly recommend this book not only to those who already have a relationship with Jesus Christ and wish to deepen it, but also to any person who has a question, desire, or interest to learn about the Truth He teaches, and His great love and mercy.

Beautiful Legend with a Thoughtful Message

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a beautiful legend with great descriptions that take you on a journey. Ms. Odell's message is thoughtful, but not cliche, and her characters are very interesting. This is a book that I will read over and over again to the students in my classroom, and to my nieces and nephews.

Wonderful Christmas Romance!

What a fun read! The book certainly pulled me in from the first pages with Izzy's wreck and rescue and kept me reading to see what was going to happen next in Izzy and Brock's journey to finding their happily ever after. It is a wonderful combination of faith and romance centered around the Christmas season that makes for a very enjoyable read that I definitely recommend.

Oh, love at first site! I never thought it could happen but 25 years ago it did when I met my husband. People always told us it couldn't be love at first site, that being married within 12 months of meeting, our marriage would never last. 25 years later the love is stronger than ever for us. It was so nice to read a Christmas story that brought back lots of memories of our early years and to reminisce on the love we shared and continue to share. LoRee has brought to us a precious story of Izzy and Brock set at Christmastime full of emotion and passion. Their story unfolds by Brock listening to his heart that something is wrong while traveling I-80 during a horrific snow storm. That's where he meets Izzy, rescuing her from an overturned car down an embankment close to a river. Staying with her during her time of need, Brock can't seem to walk away once paramedics arrive. It's like love at first site. He is drawn to Izzy right down to the dimple on her cheek. With her family snowed in a few towns over, Izzy takes Brock up on his offer to stay with him and his family through Christmas Eve until he can get her to her parents house. Izzy feels the same attraction to Brock but she wonders how in the world could this ever work out, she didn't even know him and she was in college preparing for her career far away. She had her whole life ahead of her and had it planned out and at this time, dating wasn't in the picture. Can Brock change her heart and allow them to give it a chance? The more time they spent together, the more each of them were falling in love. Could their faith in God keep them together and give love a chance? Izzy and Brock teaches us to never to be afraid to follow your heart, because God is on the path with you.
