Once Upon a Time…
In the Kingdom of Tranen, a King makes a promise to his dying wife to only remarry someone who has her golden hair. With time, the King finds his eyes are turned by his maturing daughter. Realizing her Father’s intentions, Princess Aurelia tries to trick her Father by requesting impossible gifts: dresses created by the Sun, Moon and Stars and a Coat made of a Thousand furs.
When Aurelia discovers his success, she decides to sacrifice her privileged life and escapes the Kingdom disguised by the cloak and under a new name, “Allerleirauh.”
Aurelia enters the safe haven of the Kingdom of Saarland der Licht, where she is taken under the care of the handsome and gentle Prince Klaus. Hoping to not be discovered by her Father’s courtiers, Aurelia tries to remain hidden under her new false identity.
Unexpected love is found between Aurelia and Prince Klaus and is challenged with an approaching arranged marriage between the Kingdom of Saarland der Licht and a neighboring ruler. With the possibility of discovery hanging in the air, Aurelia must face the troubles of her past with her Father, and her fears of the future in her journey of self-discovery.

I absolutely LOVED this story!

Allerleirauh is Chantal Gadoury take on an old German fairy tale that she'd remembered hearing when she was a kid. It has everything you could want or ask for in a great old-world European tale of overcoming adversity. Princesses, a prince, mad king, deceit, betrayal, heartbreak, true love, everything that makes a fairy tale great is in this story. The synopsis centers around the main character, princess Aurelia, whom at the naïve age of nineteen starts drawing the eye of her loathsome father, the King, after he has made a promise to Aurelia's deceased mother upon her deathbed to marry another as beautiful as she was. Needless to say the King doesn't end up being a very good father and Aurelia is then forced to flee where she finds sanctuary in a nearby kingdom. As the story progresses, Aurelia and the Prince Klaus of the kingdom Saarland de Licht, develop feelings for one another all while Aurelia maintains her secret of who she is and her past.

Chantal Gadoury did an absolutely fantastic job putting this piece together, it was exciting and fulfilling from the beginning right to the very last page. Her flow was consistent, and all the characters were well-developed. I highly recommend this fun little tale for anyone, young adult or older who is a fan of fairy tales and fantasy, you will not be disappointed. Awesome job, Chantal, keep it up!

Charming

This is a charming retelling of the original Grimm Fair tale and the author has done a wonderful job of weaving the story and painting lush scenes. “Allerleirauh” by Chantal Gadoury is full of well-drawn characters and on the opening page we find the protagonist set the tone for the saga, “The earth was grey and wet on the day we buried my Mother. We often came to her grave as a Court, to remember and honor her in my Father’s name.” I was impressed with the telling of this rich story. Recommended. Five stars.

This book is an excellent read for anyone who likes fantasy

This book is an excellent read for anyone who likes fantasy, romance, or books with a historical flavor. It was captivating and interesting the whole way through, and Ms. Gadoury has an absolutely marvelous way with words! The descriptions were excellent, and really help the reader get inside the main character's head. I'm not personally familiar with the fairy tale that this story is based on, but I could felt the roots of an older tale, and this version definitely stole my heart! Highly recommended! :)
