Arthur Butt definitely shows an abundance of imagination in his latest novel, Gail is Gaea. Who would expect a car accident could turn into a life-changing adventure hundreds of years in the past? Captured by a band of men actually hunting for someone else, Gail is sold to the captain the Midnight Star. And even though staying in the small cabin on board a ship doesn't seem like much of a life for a teenaged girl, Gail becomes engrossed in studying maps of our past world, deciding she enjoys the ocean.

The voyage doesn't last long enough, however, and the captain is forced to sell her, as planned. This creates even more problems for Gail, but she rallies, turning every ordeal into an opportunity. But, even though success is sweet, Gail finds it impossible to stand by when she has knowledge of any injustice. This makes it difficult for her to stay in one place, and thus her journeys continue, eventually leading to strategic battles, upheavals, and the reshaping of the society Gail has become a part of. Her skills and knowledge are impressive, and she also possesses wisdom.

Anyone interested in the days of old would enjoy this book, especially with the many details and vivid impressions of the circumstances Gail (Gaea) finds herself in.

Susan Valles has written a very inspirational story about a young girl in the early part of the first century. Zimrah Dream Singer portrays the power of music, a gift from the one true God. The story is told by Zimrah, from her perspective, and it is as if the reader is sitting beside her listening to her tell her story. Zimrah tells her story in the beautiful form of ancient storytelling, like the prophets once told their stories for centuries before. As she tells her story, gently, quietly, soothingly, we, the readers, can only sit and listen, learn and rest, content in the faith of our Creator. I downloaded the book two days ago and read it as often as I could, finishing it today. I was captivated by the descriptions given throughout, it created vivid pictures as the story unfolded. I found myself weeping throughout the book, tears of sadness and of joy, smiles accompanied most of the tears. I felt parts of the story resonate with my own life. It was a precious reminder of God's love for us, a beautifully told example of His truths, His plans, and His faithfulness in delivering upon what He proclaims in and for us. Great read

Set in the backdrop of the early church’s birth, Zimrah Dream Singer is engaging. Laced with historical facts and biblical truths, Zimrah could easily have been a real person discovering her gifts and faith. As I read this story, I felt her pain, cheered as she battled, and rejoiced as she discovered the power of her gifts. It was a great read.

My wife also read it and said:
Zimrah’s story opens with sadness but is quickly interwoven with hope. Threads from earliest church history are masterfully embroidered into the text. Heavenly interactions illuminate and give rich warmth to the story’s fabric.
I enjoyed “Zimrah Dream Singer” so much I didn’t put it down until finished reading at 3.30am!

Powerful read!

Zimrah, Dream Singer blessed me immensely, and continues to bless me. I did not want it to end. The story beautifully weaves scripture throughout. Through the experiences of Zimrah, I was able to gain a deeper level of understanding about the spiritual war that is waged against us and how God protects and prepares us, and He sees us through. While the story is powerful, I think applying it to my own life and experiences has helped me to rest in HIS goodness and His love, and to even experience His presence in a deeper way. It has helped me to see the power in not only hearing but listening & obeying His voice. It has challenged me in my walk with the Lord, and given me even more courage in my faith. My favorite quote from Zimrah, "Eventually I climbed out of the small place, the prison of my fear, and He taught me to soar high with Him where the air is clear and the songs are full of life and freedom. I still have so much to learn but He is teaching me." I can't wait to read book 2!

Lush and Sensual Description of Life in Eden

After reading Melinda Inman’s first novel, “Refuge”, I anxiously awaited the release of “Fallen”. I was anxious as in anticipation and anxious as in fearful. I’d enjoyed “Refuge” so much I was afraid I’d be disappointed with “Fallen”. I need not have worried.
Though a “prequel” of sorts, “Fallen” continues what “Refuge” began – encouraging readers in their relationship with God by displaying historical characters in their personal cycle of sin, repentance and reconciliation with their faithful and loving God.
I approach speculative Christian fiction with caution; concerned readers might mix fact and fiction, leading them on an unbiblical tangent. Inman’s plot carefully navigates this. She keeps her storyline close to the biblical account, generally limiting speculation to characters’ thoughts and feelings about events rather than adding, subtracting or embellishing biblical history.
At times I found the dialogue stilted and overly formal. However, considering the characters are the first to ever engage in conversation, the newness of speaking would be awkward. I don’t know if this was deliberate on the author’s part or if it is a weakness in her writing, but it did not affect my enjoyment of her work.
Her descriptions of Eden are lush and sensual, deftly capturing the newness and wonder of experiencing all of creation through the eyes of the first human beings. And from personal experience, I can attest Inman accurately describes the dark, raw emptiness of separation from our Creator.
As was the case with “Fallen”, “Refuge” is more than entertainment; this novel will stimulate readers spiritually, giving them insight in to the character of God, His justice and love for His people.

The relationship between man and woman is stunning, because it's so foreign to us.

I love the way this novel offers opportunity to take a fresh look at a familiar story. Melinda brings to life, with beautiful detail, what it must have been like for the first man and women living in a newly created world. With her imagination and research, she fills in details, some of which I had never even thought to question or wonder about! The relationship between God and man is that for which we all long. And the relationship between man and women is stunning, because it's so foreign to us....no selfishness, no fear, no mistrust, no jealousy, no hurting one another. Instead we are presented with a true love story. Then sin enters the picture and everything changes. Through the telling of this story, Melinda helps us understand what's behind all our struggles here on earth and our broken relationship with God. There are great study notes, that point us to the Bible, which makes it very clear that God has a plan to make everything right again. Another great story, Melinda!

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!

Oh, my goodness, I bought this with low expectations. I have taken Precepts classes on the book of Genesis, which is a very deep study on books of the Bible,and learned a lot. So in picking Fallen to read, I was hoping that it would be accurate in theory at the very least.
From the first page I was hooked! Melinda captured the creation events perfectly, from Adam and Eves original names, to the description of the garden, to the Fall itself and what happened afterward, went way beyond my expectations.
I could go on and on but seriously,I have just finished the sequel "Refuge" (which was actually written first but chose to wait to read Fallen prior to Refuge), and am going to reread it again.
If you want a more in depth view of what happened "In the beginning" then read Genesis in the Bible, then read Fallen and Refuge. You won't be disappointed. The author fills in the blanks beautifully and most importantly follows scripture.
As a bonus,following the final pages, she added group discussion questions that are thought provoking and will be used well in a group setting. Am thinking of starting a woman's summer discussion using these books.

This third book in Ms. Boon’s motorcycle shifter series is probably one of her best stories. She includes all of the characters from the previous two books in this series and takes incidents from them and incorporates them into this storyline. It is a smooth transaction yet covers all the important parts. Jett is not an alpha but just a member of the pack. This give a totally different perspective of the pack which is terrific. It also give the pack a more multi-dimensional feel. In fact the pack pretty much comes alive through Jett. Taryn, on the other hand, is not from the pack and is actually not really a wolf, though she can change into one. Her character is more complex. However, her father and that pack comes across as almost pure and mindless followers. There is little blur and it’s almost as if that group is too evil. Or, better described it’s too black and white. Yet, I loved the romance, the falling in love and the exploring of each other. Ms. Boon’s dialog is beginning to feel more natural and not forced. The story almost flows effortlessly. This particular series is my favorite as this point in time. Humor is coming through it and the intensity is beginning to level off giving it much better balance. The secondary characters left me wanting to know more about them. So, hopefully this is one series that will be continuing on for a while. If you haven’t read the previous two books in this series, take the time to check them out. However, it is not necessary to enjoy this book.

Taryn loves checking out Jett but when her father discovers this pleasure she is beaten. Any other shifter probably would have died but Taryn isn’t like any other shifter. Jett has already gotten in trouble with his alpha but being distracted by Taryn and he’s promised it will never happen again. The problem is, Jett thinks Taryn might be his mate. Can they figure this out or will their packs keep them apart?

This is not the first book I have read by Elle Boon, but it is my first Mystic Wolves story, but I intend to read them all. This storyline is why I love shifter romance. This storyline is book 3 Mystic Wolves series but the first one I have read. I love that this is a part of a series but it reads like a standalone and brings together the other two books in the series. I like the fact that you can read book 3 and it answers the mysteries from the first two books and it ties together why the Alpha of the neighboring pack has a vendetta against the Mystic Wolves Pack. Elle Boon has creative a series that sets the stage for a BEST Selling series. The storyline is full of drama, scorching hot, and Fantastic. The characters are witty, sexy, gorgeous and loveable. I love that it's intense, imaginative, titillating , magical, sizzling hot, and so very creative. I couldn't stop reading this book I was hooked from first page to last page I turned! I intend to re-read this book again and again because I really really enjoyed every juicy scorching hot word.

Book 3 is Jett and Taryn love story. Both of these characters stole my heart. Jett is a panty dropping gorgeous wolf shifter who is drummer in a band and the fastest tracker in the Mystic Wolves Pack! Taryn is a BBW, sweet, sexy, half fey that can shift into a cheetahs and a wolf! They are so perfectly matched. The chemistry between them can't be denied.

Elle Boon storylines can take you into the paranormal world and you will enjoy being held captive until you finish the book. Her vivid details and intense approach to setting the scene is one of the skills I admire the most from her books. She uses words to weave her magic to entertain us with her Wolves series which are FANTASTIC! I am excited to read the next book in this series, which I hope is Bronx and Taya's story or the twins story.

I Highly Recommend this Book for everyone read! Its worth every penny!

I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.

We are back with the third instalment from Elle Boon Mystic Wolves series , this one is a corker as we finally see cocky Jett get hit by the love bug.

Taryn has yearned for her freedom for as long as she can remember she yearns to find a place where she can truly belong. A place where she can be loved and where she could love without any fear. The first time she ever laid her eyes upon Jett, her heart skipped a beat and she knew from that moment on that he was the only one for her.

Jett is sexy as sin just as charismatic and cocky. He had very nearly lost his life as well as his place in the Mystic Wolves pack because of one feisty wild wolf. Now, she has only gone and saved him from a certain death. his wolf wants what it wants and it wants her for their very own.

Will he be able trust her not to betray them all?

Taryn and Jett try to fight there attraction to one another even though fate has other ideas for this unlikely pair.

Now Danger is upon them once more will they survive this vicious fight? Or will there love end just as hard as it began.

And Elle has done it again got me hooked on yet another yummy shifter of hers.... man she gives me the best man candy ever..... as if that's not enough she gets me so emotional invested and involved with the Heroine Taryn...... I swear there is no one that can write like Miss Boon, can you tell im hooked.

Jett is such a cocky son of a gun he is sexy suave has all these hot as hades tattoos and a piercing that is made for sin, yet he still has misgivings about the mistakes he made that nearly cost his Alpha his mate he questions his place in the pack. Jett is one of those characters which you totally connect with he is so likeable even with his cockiness he I thought and found rather endearing and then some. yes i got a crush on his as well but hey who wouldn't :)

Taryn is amazing seriously she totally grabs at my soul as well as my heart she is such a fighter she has been through some abominable things because of her evil father yet she has come out still normal how the heck that happened is amazing I swear fate had a hand in that. Taryn has sass and gumption a mile long I love her sooo hard.

My favourite bit mmm im going to sound so bad well it involved some nekidness and the hood of a vehicle ... if you get my drift ... lol

What i am most intrigued about and what I need Miss Boon To write about like asap is Bronx and Taya ... man I see such chemistry already pleaseeeee Elle Write there story dont leave us hanging.

Judy Knox, a retired high school teacher, now teaches Christians how to get more from their relationship with God. Recently widowed, she resides most of the year in northern Illinois near her married son and daughter and six grandchildren, and flies south to Arizona for the winter months. Judy is the author of Dewdrops of Grace, a collection of devotionals. In addition to writing and speaking, she is active in her local church and enjoys playing the cello. Strength straight from the Lord

I'm always interested in hearing how I can find strength in the Lord and books that may encourage me in this way. For that reason, I was looking forward to reading Judy Knox's book, A Widow's Might.

She begins her book with the scenes that took place before the Lord ushered her husband home. They were approaching their 51st Wedding Anniversary and her husband, Alan, was rushed to the hospital and underwent heart surgery. Although Alan's surgery was difficult, they were under the impression that after rehab, he would come home a new man. Sadly, after a very trying 10 weeks, Alan did not survive and Judy found herself, single for the first time in 50 years.

Her story was a beautiful work of encouragement - I appreciated how she began her book admitting that her relationship with Christ did not have the intimacy that she thought she had. She did not realize this until she was facing the difficulty of Alan's hospitalization and death. As she really ran to the Lord during this difficult trial, He was faithful to provide a sweet peace that surpassed all understanding, just as we are told He will in Philippians 4:6-7. In her own words, she shared very honestly how her relationship with God was very casual and she did not realize it until the Lord drew her to Himself during this trial. It reminded me of Psalm 34:18 and the truth that the Lord is in fact, very close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in Spirit.

Judy's book was written in a very conversational manner that was easy to read and it was as if I could hear her voice as I read each page. What I loved most was Judy's use of scripture that anchored her chapters each step of the way. Judy saw the Lord continually provide more peace and direction as she saturated herself in God's word and as a result, she was able to embrace this new season of singleness that she now faced.

Unfortunately, I did not agree with the portion of her book sharing about the importance of speaking in tongues. I know that this is an area of disagreement amongst many Christians and Judy, herself, acknowledged this. In my understanding of the scriptures, I do not agree that speaking in tongues translates to speaking in a language that is not understandable. When the believers in Pentecost were able to speak in tongues, it was the ability to speak in languages previously unknown to them but understandable to particular believers.

With that said, I'm grateful that Judy is able to share how the Lord sustained, upheld, and drew her during a time that was so difficult. I love her desire to point widows back to the sustaining Word of God and her encouragement in the book to do so. Although, I appreciated her candor and the great courage it took to share.

Anyone of us can count on a few things in life and those are taxes and death neither of which can be avoided. However, it is how we deal with these situations that we can grow from and with in life. Although many of us seek Him in dark times it can also be the best time to find His pure love in us and the power of having Him on our side. A Widow's Might by Judy Knox is that kind of book. Knox loses her husband after an illness and what she does following the loss is what all of us can use as a guide. Losing a partner one is the hardest things a wife has to endure with such a powerful and all compassing darkness. Turning to Him during this difficult time will make the transition much more bearable. He will be the light that is needed to make it through such a bleak time. Which is what Knox describes in painful detail, but I think this only heightens the power of Him and sharing the pains will one day help another. I received a copy for this reveiw from Aneko Press and all opinions are my own.

Pretty good

I know it may sound odd initially, but I love and collect books about suffering- specifically autobiographies. And especially autobiographies about Christians who find their strength in God through their suffering. These books teach me so much about life and faith and give me a bigger picture of life! All the comparatively little things which worry and bother me just disappear as I read books such as these. And I feel ashamed that I could ever think my lot in life was difficult! Thus, I always come away more grateful for what I have and more intentional in living my daily life!
A Widow's Might is another such book. It is an autobiography by Judy Knox which tells of her time of suffering as she waited for her husband to heal only to find that he would never be going home with her. Judy has a wonderful grasp that her husband did go to his eternal home which gives her great peace and that is awesome to read about. I hope to someday have such peace! This whole book is a testimony of God's faithfulness and the strength one can find in Him.
I recommend this book especially for widows and those going through suffering as well as people living in comparative ease and safety!
Overall, this book wasn't as life-changing as other autobiographies I have read but it was very good nevertheless.
I also didn't agree with all the doctrine which the author believes but that is up to you, the reader to discern.

A group of friends from Jacksonville, Wisconsin, bored with their routine lives and the lack of a satisfactory night life in their town, are delighted when some of their friends throw a huge party in Shorewood Hills, a happening place, just a five hour ride from Jacksonville. When their car stalls in the middle of the road, one of them spies a faint outline of a house on top of a hill and the group decides to spend the night there, before commencing their journey in the morning.

The house is extremely different from the inside, warm and welcoming, and the group meets its caretaker, a rather shadowy and curt figure, who only appears at mealtimes. Strange things start happening to the group and they begin to feel uneasy, even with all the splendor and luxury around them.

powerful and fun stuff!

This author is on point. I recently finished a year-long devotional that was a compilation of dozens of writer's devotionals on the topic of friendship. As I would start reading each one, I wouldn't pay any attention to who had authored it, I would just start reading.....but every time I would come to one of Michelle's I would find myself, chuckling, entertained and inspired, or thinking "oh you know me sister." Then, I would look to the end of the page and see that the devotional was by Michelle Medlock Adams. She had about 10 devotionals in the book and it got to be funny how often I would recognize her engaging style in the first couple sentences.She is a very unique writer with a gift for engaging her audience in a fun way -- plus her content is very Word-based and powerful!

I've only started this book, but plan to use the themes and scripture passages in a weekly yoga class that I teach.

Most women need to learn to take care of themselves and this book is a great place to start!

A simple read for those looking for a anecdotal health book

This book comes with praise of noteworthy individuals, including the wife of Joel Osteen, which is good for those who subscribe to the prosperity gospel but a warning hazard for those who stand with biblical values. That said, just as it is not fair to judge a book by its cover, one could also argue that it is not fair to judge the author based off their close friends, even though Scripture and legality both encourage a guilty by association model. Moving on, is this book a good and worthy read?

The author presents the book much like a workout routine. The warmup session includes warnings and cautions, as well as exhortation to look at one's personal health in regards to Scripture. The cardio section continues the path with the hard workout, and strength training requires one to flex their spiritual muscles as they tone their body. The workout finishes with stretching and final words of encouragement.

The author starts chapters off with a Scripture quote and anecdote, just like most other devotionals. It is in this anecdote that the author leads the reader to the point of the chapter. In the case of the first chapter, one is encouraged to not compare themselves to others. Good advice for someone starting a new routine. It transitions with a "power prayer," which relies on the evangelical model of making up prayers as they go. I'm not sure how it's more powerful than the prayers found in the Bible, but I'll leave that to the author to explain. After the prayer, the reader is given a statement to commit to themselves and a tip on personal health with a positive mindset.

Each chapter, all fifty-two devotions, follows this format. Designed to be a daily encouragement on the road to living healthy, with a loose relation to Scripture, the author expresses herself throughout the work.

All in all, the author's effort is much appreciated, but one cannot call this book anything more than a personal devotion. It is not a Bible devotion in any regard, and simply a book to encourage the reader to find good in the process of being healthier. If that's the author's goal, the mission accomplished and enjoy the work. Light on inspiration, this book could use a little more reliance on Scripture and a little less on personal sharing, but that's small potatoes to argue about.

This is an inspirational devotional that encourages women to become the best version of themselves!

I started reading this book on a recent air flight from Florida to Ohio and I couldn't believe how short the flight seemed when I arrived at my destination. It was due to the fact that I couldn't get enough of this book. I won't give you a chapter by chapter blow of the book, but I will highlight just a few chapters to give you an idea of what you'll be missing if you don't start the new year off with this great book!

Chapter 1 of Love and Care for the One and Only You starts out warning us to avoid the "Comparison Trap". The Bible verse for the chapter is Proverbs 14:30 (NLT): A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. The chapter discusses how we can sometimes be envious of others' results - whether airbrushed or earned - and it causes us to stop before we've even started our healthy journey in life. It warns us to stay away from self-loathing and the fear of judgment, among other things. The chapter ends with a "Power Prayer", as do all the chapters, followed by "Work Your Words" which, in this case is this: "I will not get caught in the Comparison Trap. Instead, I will strive for progress, not perfection, and I will enjoy the journey on the way to a happier, healthier me." Not too shabby to start out, huh? The chapter then ends with a "Healthy Hint" suggesting that we celebrate our little victories and to start a Progress, Not Perfection Celebratory Journal to track your positive changes.

As readers move on, we read in Chapter 5, Keep Looking Forward, where the Bible verse shared is Proverbs 4:25 (ESV): Let you eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. This chapter addresses those jeans you've been saving in your closet - your "goal" jeans that very honestly, if they actually fit you, they'd be so out of style you wouldn't want to wear them anyway! The chapter asks us if there's something from our past that we need to release to God that might be holding us back and if so, we need to let go, and let God.

Okay, one more chapter to share here is Chapter 6 and that's entitled Watch Your Words. The Bible verse is Proverbs 18:21 (MSG): Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit - you choose. WOW! How's that for the beginning of a chapter? The chapter goes on to share a story of a mother's words and how they affect her young daughter. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and saying negative things about myself day after day will not build faith in the right area. The "Work Your Words" says "I will stop saying ugly things about myself. Instead, I will say good things. In fact, I will start now: 'Girl, you are looking fine today!'"

As I glance back at the book, I almost wanted to start sharing Chapter 8 called Exercise is Worship, but I'll just give you the title and let you dig into the book yourself so you can see how much Michelle Medlock Adams helps us put a better perspective on how God gives us one body and how it is up to us to take care of it. This book is about caring for the body God blessed you with, the body where the Holy Spirit dwells.

It's easy to read, it touches the very essence of how to get and how to maintain the body we want with the right attitude and while walking with God. In addition to 52 awesome chapters to help you on your journey, Love and Care for the One and Only You also contains a chapter at the end full of great Recipes. After the Recipes chapter, there is an appendix that contains Scriptures to Stand on While on This Journey which is great to jump back and read when you're struggling on your journey.
