Great scifi/mystery/suspense short novel for ages 10 & up. Easy and fun to read. I couldn't put it down!
By Barbara Hoffpauir
Young Jack Gregson is in line to inherit Gregson Manor from his grandmother who is raising him following the death of his parents at his birth. The estate has been in the family for many generations and fantastic stories have been told about the magical monsters, fairies, and beasts. Everyone says that they are true, but Jack has seen none of it and the older he gets, the less he believes. The only thing Jack knows is that there is one door leading from the garden that no one can open.
Jack along with his cousins, David and Rosie decide that they are going to use dynamite to bring down the door. They are intrigued that the door must be magical and lead to somewhere special because the dynamite didn't even leave a mark. When Rosie finds a magical book that details every room in the estate home, the young trio begin exploring and discover things they had never noticed before. The magical book leads them on a quest to other worlds in order to save Gregson Manor. Along the way, they will encounter dark secrets that if exposed could lead to the destruction of the not only Gregson Manor, but of the entire universe. This book is chronicles their journey as they leave Gregson Manor and travel a universe unknown to them. Will they be successful or will the dark forces prevent them from returning?
I started reading this ebook and just couldn't put it down! The suggested age range is 10 to 18, but I found myself wondering what would happen next so I just kept reading. I was transported with the characters to a new world as unfamiliar to me as it was to them. Peter Wilson's style of writing is easy to read, but descriptive enough so that the reader finds themselves in the scene with the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this ebook and would definitely recommend it to any young reader (or old reader like myself) who enjoys reading scifi or suspense and mysteries.
I was fortunate to receive this book for free so that I could read it and give an honest and unbiased review.

This book was so dang fun! It's original
By Karen Wingoof
This book was so dang fun! It's original, funny, imaginative, descriptive - it's the kind of book I could see being turned into a movie for the big screen. The only problem I had with it was that there were a number of punctuation and spelling errors (I'm told there's been editing since I first purchased it on Kindle). Normally, this might have made me stop reading the book early into it - and I guess it's a testament to the story that I could not stop reading it - even as I was mentally editing it. I have to give it five stars. It's just too good to let some missing commas lower my appreciation of it. I would recommend this book to any of my friends. I look forward to reading the next book Peter Wilson brings to us.

Great fun!
By Brenda Telford
With Jack Gregson and his cousins David and Rosie in disgrace on the one day of the year that they most looked forward to, they ventured to the library to pass the time and try to stave off the boredom. The large combined Gregson family came together in the gardens of the Manor for lunch, games and catching up, with many of them not having seen each other since the previous year. It was Jack’s great uncle’s fault they were in disgrace – after their grandmother discovered their morning adventure, she banished the children as well as soundly admonishing Jack’s great uncle.
When the children found a special book which described the rooms of the Gregson Manor in great detail, they discovered an attic they hadn’t known existed. Suddenly the view of the Rear Garden looked different – a black mist was swirling around; trees and shrubs were instantly dying. And the statue which held the emerald was gone; as was the emerald – what was happening?
As Jack, David and Rosie nervously entered the hidden passage, they unexpectedly found themselves hurtling through a portal into another dimension. Surrounded by magic, strange animals and evil, they had no idea what to do or whom to trust. But Jack’s determination to save the Manor from destruction was foremost in his mind – could he do it? Could he find the emerald which had been stolen before their world was no more?
Jack Gregson & the Forgotten Portal by Aussie author Peter Wilson was great fun! A rollicking adventure story from Earth and on through Portals to different worlds, it was fast paced with action aplenty. Written with young people in mind - probably around twelve and up – it is a wonderful read for all ages. (I haven’t been twelve for a very long time!) Highly recommended to all. (I love the cover too!)
